How to Wear Bumbags

The street stylers have spoken: the bumbag is officially back for SS18, ready to give our ‘drobes a serious dose of ‘90s nostalgia mixed with a side of so-now cool. But remember this – these belt-up babes aren’t here to third-wheel your ‘fits, having become statement-making accessories in their own right. So buckle up – here’s how to wear bumbags for the new season.

1. Black Out

Need to ease your way into the trend? We hear you. Making a case for military in a cool khaki jumpsuit, this NYFW show-goer kept it simple (yet effective) with a low-slung bumbag in basic black – and we were majorly into it. A black polo neck and studded boots added extra co-ordination, allowing the ‘90s accessory to blend in with her get-up.

2. High-Shine Pink

Wallflowers, look away now. Giving high-shine pink the go-ahead, this fash fan went turbo with a neon number (plus matching socks) that brought extra wows to her all-grey ‘fit. Copy her vibe with a sequinned style in hot pink hues, with flashes of green and blue for a hit of mermaid magic.

3. Pastel Pop

Bumbags = the new way to wear pastels for SS18. Follow this mega-babe’s style cue with a cosy white knit and a colour-pop midi, belted together with a powder blue number that feels so fresh for now. One pair of statement earrings later, and the new season is all yours.

4. Heavy Metal

Wanna make the bumbag feel instantly high-fashion? Go for metallics. Topping the style charts in a softly-tailored combo (that trench coat though), this fash packer knows that a high-shine hun is the only way to pull her look together for SS18. Add a messy top-knot for Insta-worthy feels.

5. Red Alert

Red is still one of all-time favourite colour crushes, and the good news is that the bold fiery hue has now set its sights on the it-accessory of the season: aka the bumbag. Take note from this street styler who rocked hers with a cool-as slogan knit tucked into an out-there pleated midi skirt, and accessorised to the max with swish studded shades.
